Silken Wishes of Spring

The tension between the U.S. and China is growing day by day. The pressure is felt ubiquitously among the international students. Throughout the school year, it is not only the international students but everyone who feels the pressure weighing on top of them. Every student strives for a better grade and pushes themselves to the limit for even the smallest points. The school library, once a place of peaceful studies is now filled with air of unspoken anxiety. I envisioned transforming this environment into a place where fears can be eased. A place that can be homed to people of various distinct cultures. A wishing tree where hundreds of strings are waiting to be filled. Designed for red cards to be stuck on them, these strings create a structure for the courageous hope the student has and create a solid entity that stands in the place of most anxieties, the library. This entity of hope, a physical representation of the positive desires the student has, keeps a constant reminder that all challenges can be broken through.
